The Movie "Mountains of the Moon" was based on the journey's of Richard Burton And John Speek. They Faced Many hardships in Africa. There were all of these tribes that wanted to attack because they were travelling in their "kingdoms". They also faced other hardships like lack of water, and when they did find water it was tainted but their men still drank from it and ended up dying.
It is strange that the source of the nile is the 3rd largest lake in the world because it is named after Queen Victoria, The queen of England at the time John Speek found the lake. It is strange because the lake is in Africa but it has been over 150 years and the Africans who love there sill did not change the name into a more appropriate african name for a lake.
The Europeans were able to conquer the Africans so easily because they were not evolved. While the Africans had spears and stuff, the Europeans had Machine guns, pistols and such. The Europeans had better stronger weapons the Africas have never seen of before, so i guess they had to die or surrender.

Imperialism Project
We did a project on imperialism. What we had to do was color in the country, and what areas it controlled around the world. This showed us what goods they got, the slaves and where they got them from to farm/ collect their goods etc. For Example, Britain Controlled most of the countries. They Controlled most of Africa Australia, The middle east. They Even Controlled Canada and The US at one point in time. They got many reasources. Our map shows the diseases brought over, the goods that were produced and the stuff that was culturally diffused from one country to another.

Karl Marx and the Industrial Revolution
Karl Marx was born a German in Europe. He was born a Jew but his family converted in the Christianity. He did not believe in god, he thought that it was a drug to belive in god. When he went to work, He though it was very unfair unsafe and very harsh how the landlords treated thier workers. He told his ideas to the workers and they decided it was time to unite the workers and fight the land owners for what should be thiers.
Karl Marx Felt that lands and property should belong to the people not the government. His Ideas were called " Communism ". But, In Communist countrys they did not use it this way. There was the equal pay, but the government ran the property, all the buisnesses and all the land. They censored people from posting negative things about the government or what they are really doing. People who spoke of term about the government were treated harshly. Karl Marx died ion 1883 but in 1917, His ideas were used in Bolshevik Revolution. There were many Communist governments starting after world war II. They over threw governments.

Karl Marx and Communism
Karl marx had an idea for all the working people. This idea was called " Communism ". Communism is that everyone gets payed the same wage. If person works as a doctor and someone is a garbage man, they both get payed the same. This also meant that people did not own anything. Buisnesses were run by the government. Homes and property were run by the government aswell. This is Karl Marx's Idea of communism and he wanted to spread it all over the world.
Karl Marx wanted all workers to be on like the same level. Karl Marx wanted this because people before were not getting payed what they were supposed to so he though everyone getting payed the same will be the fairest way. Marx didn't want people getting payed unfairly, like if youre a doctor and you got payed as much as a drug dealer or getting less / extra money.
The "good guys" were the factory workers who didn't like the way they were being treated and workedlong hours for low wages and less time breaks. The "Bad Guys" are the Factory owners who controlled everything that happens in the factory because they controlled the workers.

Nationalism and the Creation of Italy
Nationalism is a state of mind. You are Loyal To no kings queens or royalty. Just to yourself, Your Country and the people in the nation as a whole. People Show many ways how to be loyal to their country. For starters, they speak the national language. For example, In the United States we speak English. If you don't speak english a lot of things cant be done. Another Example of nationalism is like The holidays we celebrate, Such as veterans day, thanks giving, July 4th ( independence day ). Also other holidays like Dr. Martin Luther King day as well. Also another way we express this is by our currency. Nobody else in the world uses the american dollar but America itself.

Simon Bolivar and Latin American Revolutions
Simon Bolivar is a Creole that was born in Caracas, Venezuela on July 24, 1783. Bolivar is a liberator who lead a military so that south american country's can get their freedom from the rule of the Spanish ( Spain ). Bolivar got his ideas from the enlightenment and the enlightenment thinkers, For example, John Locke was an enlightenment thinker who talked about equal rights for every man. He helped the countries Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia (The Country Named After Simon Bolivar), Ecuador and Peru. They named the country bolivia after Simon Bolivar because he helped them get the country their freedom that they wanted. Simon Bolivar was also influenced by the American and French Revolutions because in those revolutions, they were going for the same cause, To get freedom from their leaders and to create a democracy. What really influence him was that the Spanish did have a good set-up so the government there fell and thats when they revolted.

John Locke and "The Enlightenment"
According to the document, The United States constitution says that the government receives its power and representatives from the hardworking people who vote. The Citizens Vote for our leader, the mayor, the senate and much more. All these ideas mainly come from John Locke so he inspired our laws and our constitution.

Copernicus and the trial of Galileo
Geocentric is when people believed that the earth was the center of the universe and everything revolved around it. This theory was embraced by Aristotle and Ptolemy. They thought for hundreds of years that the earth was the center. They thought that every planet revolved around the earth including the sun. They thought this because when they looked up into the sky, they saw that the stars and planets went around the earth.
Heliocentrism is the way we see the universe today in modern society. The Sun stays in the center where the planets revolve around the Sun's orbit. This Hypothesis was created by a Polish mathematician named Nicolaus Copernicus. He noticed that the earth stood still but over the course of the year, he saw different planets going in different directions ( because the earth moves faster than most planets).
The Church did not like how he thought so they put him on trial for false dialouge and the put him on house arrest. Galileo belived in his studies and smarts. and the church belived in the bible

Scientific Revolution: The Scientific Method
The Scientific method has five steps. First step is to of-course state your theory. Then you have to
test your theory. With that test, you can further build onto your theory and make it better. Then with that
you can either test or analyze your results and write feedback for yourself if you are going back for more
tests.
The Scientific Method is a way to test out theories and hypotheses by doing a series of test. In the 1500's , during the scientific revolution, New scientists used the scientific method to test out old ideas and used the method to see if the actually worked. Aristotle's theories were put to the test by Isaac Newton and Galileo. Galileo tested out Aristotle's theory of " Heavier objects fall faster than lighter objects" by making his hypothesis, testing it then building it up, He tested by throwing weights off the leaning tower of Piza. his data show that it doesn't matter how heavy it is it will fall at the same speed.
The Scientific method was also used by the famous physicist Isaac Newton. He explained the laws of physics and paved the way for modern understanding of physics. Isaac Newton also disproved another of Aristotle's theories. Aristotle said that one set of physical laws governed the universe and that another set took over the earth. Newton proved that wrong with his research testing and analysis that on set of laws governed the earth + anything in the universe and beyond.

Evolution VS Creation

Evolution Is a theory made famous by Charles Darwin. Evolution is the theory that all living organisms were created by natural selection. We Evolved and adapted to our environments and that is how we have gotten our traits. Basically, Darwin thought that all life came from one common ancestor and for us that is the primate/monkey.
The Thought of Creationism is the theory made famous by the Bible. It is thought that all life has been created by One Being named God. Creationism is most remembered from the Seven days it took god to create it. The Bible also talks about " Adam And Eve" the first humans in existence.Creationism is followed by Christians and those who go to church every weekend.
My Opinion is that i follow Evolution. The thought of creationism does not make sense because i heard in the bible, God created plants and vegetables before he created sunlight which makes no sense because plants cannot live without sunlight. Also I like the theory of Evolution because it makes plenty of sense. It proves how we adapt to our environment and how we came to be.
